About the Conference | Registration

North Carolina helped lead the nation when it passed groundbreaking legislation enabling charter schools in 1996. The Tar Heel state further led the way by eliminating its charter cap in 2011 and when it introduced its Opportunity Scholarships program in 2013. Now, as our national political climate grows increasingly partisan, state leaders in North Carolina have the opportunity to again lead the way through bi-partisan cooperation and common sense good governance.

Topics of Discussion Include:
  • Who Is Harmed by Overcriminalization?
  • Ways to Build A New and Better Criminal Code
  • Next Steps and Action Plan for Criminal Law Reform
